Clifton Meador

I have been making books for thirty years. I still find the codex, as an artistic form, deeply engaging. My books frequently combine photography, writing, and design as part of a unified whole: the book as an original experience in art.

FiftyTwo Turning everyday life into books: a book a week for my fifty-second year.

Pearl of the Snowlands: Buddhist Printing at the Derge Parkhang In 2006 and 2007, Patrick Dowdey and I traveled in western China, documenting traditional Tibetan book production. The results were exhibited at Wesleyland University and at Columbia College Chicago, and are also available as a print-on-demand catalog.
